Oaks Of Bethel/Disembodied I/EEE Recordings/2013 EP Review

This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Oaks  Of  Bethel  which  continues  their  hybrid  sound  of  black  metal,  ambient  and  drone  with  the  ep  being  released  in  2013  by  EEE  Recordings  and  called  "Disembodied  I"  which  is  the  first  chapter  in  a  4  part  series.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  playing  with  none  of  the  fast  drumming  or  blast  beats  that  where  present  on  the  previous  recordings,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  field  recordings  they  bring  in  the  drone  and  dark  ambient  elements  to  the  ep.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  ambient  black  metal  riffs  that  also  use  a  good  amount  of  melody  and drone  elements  while  not  sounding  as  harsh  as  the  previous  recordings,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  and  melodic  sounding  post  black  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  are  mostly  clean singing  with  some  black  metal  screams  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Nature,  Ancestry,  and  Culture  with  the  song  being  the  first  part  of  four  different  parts,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  with  the  only  song  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  ep  from  Oaks  Of  Bethel  and  while  it  is  not  as  primitive  sounding  as  previous  recordings  I  can  still  see  fans  of  post  black  metal  enjoying  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
