Ragana/All's Lost/2012 Cassette Review

Ragana  are  a  band  from  Olympia,  Washington  that  plays  a  very  experimental  form  of  cascadian  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2012  cassette  "All's  Lost".

Drums  range  from  slow, mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  present  on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  riffs  that  combine  cascadian  black  metal,  doom,  sludge  and  experimental  music  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  with  some  soft  and  clean  playing  being  utilized  at  times  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  range  from  clean  singing  to  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  that  utilize  some  screamo  elements,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  album.

In  my  opinion  Ragana  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  experimental  rock,  cascadian  black  metal,  doom  and  sludge  and  if  you  a  fan  of  those  musical  genre's,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Burning  Structures"  and  "666".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
