Ildjarn/Son Of The Northstar/Full Moon Productions/1999 CD Review

Ildjarn  where  a  1  man  band  from  Norway  that  played  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  viking/black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1999  album  "Son  Of  The  Northstar"  which  was  released  by  Full Moon Productions.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  primitive  black  metal  riffing  that  dominates  though out  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  viking/black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  in  the  early  90's  Norwegian  vein  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  which  are  provided  by  Ihsahn  of  Emperor  are  all  high  pitched  black  metal  screams,  while  the  lyrics  which  are  written  in  Norwegian  cover  Norse  Paganism  and  Nature,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Ildjarn  where  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  primitive  viking/black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fjerde  Dag"  and  "Mot  Kveld".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
